On March 19, 2004, "American Idol's" current hanger-on, Kristy Lee Cook, sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" before a Dallas Mavericks basketball game.
Good thing she didn't butcher the national anthem like she did "Eight Days a Week."

16. I think if anyone likes country music, they gave Kristy a thumbs up for taking a difficult song and doing a good job of putting her own twist on it. The show judges want creativity, she gave it to them. I admired her for doing what she did and because of that she was one of my standouts for the night.
