The most famous celeb rehab joint around is crazed over a story that claims Tara Reid's detox is a ploy to drum up business for the facility.
Star Magazine claims Promises Treatment Center is letting Reid rehab there for free -- with a luxury bedroom and a "no bag check policy."
Star claims attendance is down and profits are low, so Promises "asked around Hollywood to see who wanted to stay there for free."
Promises begs to differ: "The suggestion that Promises would search Hollywood for a celebrity who needs rehab in an effort to garner publicity is libelous, offensive and without merit."
The article has since been removed from Star's website. The mag didn't get back to us with a comment.

Chyna is alive -- and finally sober -- after a dangerous mix of meds and booze sent her to the hospital with cuts on her arms early Saturday morning, her birthday.
We're told she was so drunk, doctors had to wait to perform a psych evaluation -- but when we got her going out to lunch yesterday (not figuratively), she told a different story.

"Dancing with the Stars'" Mark Ballas has groin-ed to a halt.
The season six winner "grimaced in pain" at a Staples Center concert, reports People, and apologized to the crowd for "not being able to give his all," although he was apparently able to tough it out through a "high-energy hip-hop" routine.
Ballas announced he'll have to sit out "a couple of weeks" to let his sore man-bend mend. No splits for Mark.

We've learned Chyna was rushed to the hospital early Saturday -- her birthday. She was so drunk when she was admitted, the shrinks at the hospital couldn't even do a psych evaluation.
Paramedics were called to her home in Burbank just before 5:00 AM. Saturday. She was celebrating her birthday with a few friends and had way too many drinks -- which didn't mix well with her prescriptions.
Friends found her passed out with cuts on her arms and were so worried, they called 911. After she was taken to the hospital, doctors wanted to perform a psych evaluation, but her blood alcohol level was so high they had to wait.
We spoke with Chyna in the hospital. She said, "All I really want right now is a hamburger and fries right now."

TMZ has learned Linda Hogan was involved in a fender bender in Clearwater, Fla. earlier this afternoon. It happened less than a quarter mile from where her son Nick infamously crashed in August 2007. 
Cops on scene tell TMZ Linda's white Mercedes was rear-ended by a red Camaro. The Camaro suffered the majority of the damage -- Linda's car only suffered "minor" damage.
Her son-alike BF Charley Hill arrived on the scene shortly afterwards.
A witness on the scene tells us from their vantage point, Linda was not at fault.

Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell will be spending his holiday in the hospital -- taking care of his six-year-old son.
Littrell announced on his website, "Baylee LIttrell has been in the hospital for the past few days. He will be starting a treatment this afternoon." Brian didn't specify the nature of Baylee's illness, and a message to a label rep wasn't immediately returned.
Brian himself was reportedly born with a small hole in his heart, which he had surgically repaired, and runs a charity called Brian Littrell's Healthy Heart Club to help children with heart problems.

Who told Jeremy Piven he could work with men, anyway?
Not David Mamet, the playwright whose "Speed-the-Plow" Piven just ditched on Broadway. He had some awesomely choice words for the sick star, who's now claiming it's a "high mercury count" that ended his run. "So my understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer," Mamet tells Variety.
As we told you, Piv had called in sick for several shows and, on the advice of his doctors, bailed on the show.

The daughter of Hollywood legend Peter Falk says her father is no longer competent to run his own life because he suffers from Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
Catherine Falk filed legal papers in L.A. County Superior Court claiming her father "requires full-time custodial care for his health and safety."
In the docs, Catherine claims she is worried her father "can easily be deceived into transferring away property" and believes a conservatorship will protect Peter from "fraud or undue influence."
A hearing on the matter is set for next month. Calls to Falk's reps were not returned.
